The chamber group Interpreti Veneziani was born in Venice in 1987, of the initiative of Paolo Cognolato. The ensemble immediately gains a reputation for its “youthful exuberance and all-Italian brio characterizing their performances”, and after twenty-two years still earns a critical and audience success worldwide.
Specializing in Vivaldi and Tartini repertoire, the ensemble has performed in various festivals, including the Bayreuth Festival. The ensemble regularly holds concerts in Italy and abroad, such as the concerts in the Royal Palace in Stockholm during the Water Festival and in Leningrad’s Belozelsky Hall. It has also participated in the World Vision tv-marathon at the Kirov Theater, in the occasion of the reinstatement of the name St. Petersburg to the city. It has also held five tours in Japan, where it has performed at the Osaka Symphony Hall in live broadcast for Japanese radio, at the Tokyo Kjoy Hall and the Yokohama Minato Mirari Hall.
The Interpreti Veneziani are regularly invited to perform overseas (U.S., Canada), so that by 2007 their commitment to America has become an annual tour.
Since 1990, the ensemble promotes the musical season Violins in Venice at San Vidal’s Church in Venice, featuring over one hundred concerts a year, with programs planned and designed according to the atmosphere of the location. Each exhibition is an opportunity for a fascinating encounter of different Arts, in which the ancient Italian instruments stored in San Vidal meet the masterpieces of the sixteenth and seventeenth century paintings that adorn the church.
After their first CD with music by Tartini (for label Musikstrasse), Interpreti Veneziani has recorded 15 CDs on the Rivo Alto label.
